Winnipeg Airport Authority

Having built the previous version of the Winnipeg Airports Authority web site back in 1999, we knew from that experience that most visitors coming to waa.ca are looking for arrival and departure information. Given that knowledge, we faced the challenge of seamlessly integrating that into the rest of the site content.

Given this challenge, we developed a standards based set of styles that allow the home page to fill any sized monitor. Within the middle column of the home page, we presented the two most popular chunks of WAA’s content, the flight times and their news releases. The response to the new design has been very positive.

Waa.ca also employs our Catalyst system, which allows the staff at WAA to update all of the content within their site without having to know any HMTL and without having to worry about accidentally breaking their design. We have also developed a custom promotions system that allows placement of promotional side bar elements across the site or on specific pages as required.

The WAA site is also accessible on PDAs and cellphones with a custom area for arrivals and departures showing up as the first link when you visit on your handheld. Another one of those CEO requests that didn’t kill us, it just made us stronger. Although we did cry a little.
