It's still has the same guts as the old iTunes, but the interface has definitely been improved. A clever Expanded View for looking at albums and a Mini Player that is actually useful? Huzzah!
Available in January, in 64Gb and 128Gb versions. Prices start at $900, which might be a tad expensive for a tablet, but is competitive for an ultrabook.
Sound engineer John Stewart has released a complete, crisp, and beautiful remaster of the Grey Album, DJ Danger Mouse's amazing mashup of the Beatles' White Album and Jay-Z's Black Album.
Our friend Charles Clement is one of the producers of this new documentary that follows the WHL's Saskatoon Blades as they chase down one of the hardest trophies in all of sport to win, the Memorial Cup.
Hammer is a newly released tool for web developers. It helps quilckly assemble static HTML sites with HTML Includes, Variables & Helpers, compiles CoffeeScript & SASS and more. Sure, it can not replace the power of CMS or any server side dynamic language like PHP, but it should speed up the process of building smaller sites that do not need the power of those tools.
Some of us here at Visual Lizard have recently backed the Elevation Dock. However, technology is constantly evolving and here is another interesting product with even more functionality.
Neat, it's Google Maps, but for floorplans! Its mostly USA locations at the moment but Google is promising to add more sites and Canadian locations over the next while. Keep an eye out!
You know what? I hold out ZERO hope for a season this year given the reported "concessions" the players have made and proposed. The NHL knows that, given enough time, the NHLPA will crumble, since most of those guys know that losing 1 year out of their short playing careers can never be given back. Read the comments on TSN.ca for a clue as to where fans are sitting now. I never thought I would say this, but I'm looking forward to next baseball season already.
Pretty much a large FU to designers, developers and anyone who uses Adobe products and now owns a Macbook Retina. Not to mention ZERO announcement about InDesign and Fireworks. Is anyone out there working to displace Adobe? Monopolies suck. If Pixelmator or someone else can build a tool like Fireworks, they can have all my money. Again read the comments to see how devs feel about this announcement.
Its sounding good, though I'm worried about this "innovative controller" mumbo-jumbo. The current Xbox 360 controller works pretty much perfectly in my oversized mitts. Still, I'll reserve judgement until we actually see the machine.
Not really a surprise and I am sure Canadians are falling into the "do not get the minimum of 150 minutes a week of basic physical activity" demographic as well. It is getting really normal to see very overweight people everywhere you go in Canada. My goal as a parent is to ensure that my kids grow up loving sports, health and movement on a daily basis.
Not really a surprise. Twitter has their head in the sand about what makes Twitter as popular as it is. Their website as the primary means of consumption is NOT what people want.
A solid editorial from Engadget of all places, on how selling devices at cost or at a loss may be detrimental to the market in the long run... just as it was to the PC industry five to ten years ago.
Some advice from the official Windows blog to getting your sites working on Windows Phone 8 and Internet Explorer 10, especially if you've been optimizing your sites for Webkit based browsers.
A tremendous article on where Apple can take Siri and iOS in the very near future. Google knows this is coming and is trying to shift into gear under Android. Interesting to watch and more interesting to think about.
The real reasons for this tool is to educate and to facilitate a mental shift. Many clients, designers and developers get hung up on specific device widths, which is why this tool doesn’t include any such language, device chrome or anything like that. Ish. helps keep everyone focused on making a design that looks and functions great at any resolution.
