How Amazon Is Holding Hachette Hostage
"The law of DRM means that neither the writer who created a book, nor the publisher who invested in it, gets to control its digital destiny: the lion's share of copyright control goes to the ebook retailer whose sole contribution to the book was running it through a formatting script that locked it up with Amazon's DRM."

Keith Olbermann Remembers Tony Gwynn
I remember seeing Tony Gwynn play in the Olympic stadium against the Expos on a few occasions. Because the Big O was largely empty, we would move down as close as we could to the action. During games, Tony Gwynn always seemed to be having fun in the dugout, on-deck, in the batter’s box, at first base and even after games, win or lose. He seemed like a nice guy who happened to be a superstar. Sports needs more nice guys these days. It is a real shame they lost one of the nicest at only 54.Daily Links

Tesla Motors has “open-sourced” a large swath of their patent portfolio. Great new if they are actually open sourcing them, but there isn’t a specific license attached, so be warned if you start building on them and don’t have a license agreement in place. Still very cool for the electric vehicle industry and planet earth.Feedly Under DDoS Attack
