Remembering Terry

In the spring of 2011, Winnipeg’s graphic design community lost one of its brightest lights with the passing of Terry Kuzina. We assisted Fusion in creating a site to honour Terry’s memory and to help ensure his legacy of mentorship and creativity continues.

The Copy
And The Layout

The Terry Kuzina site takes full advantage of the multiple content layout options provided by our Catalyst content management system. Images are rotated with a javascript library at the top of the page, a manageable line of sponsor logos are linked in the footer, and copy can be written and laid out in mutlple rows and columns... all from our robust administrative system that doesn't get in anyone's way.

A Love For Design

The fine folks at Fusion had a very specific feel they wanted for the photo gallery, challenging us with a deceptively simple layout that had a lot of smart functionality.

The key was to provide an admin tool that made it easy to populate all the pieces of the gallery and its contents, and to ensure the public view was smooth and intuitive.

Working together, we built a wonderful display that shares Terry's work and his love for design.

Become A Sponsor

The Kuzina Cup and The Terry Kuzina Memorial Student Award for Graphic Design would not be possible without the generous support of sponsors. A well-designed form with simplified functionality makes it easy for site visitors to contribute to the golf tournament and student award by filling out a few fields and paying through Paypal.

If the package includes complimentary golf registrations, those also appear as optional information that can be provided immediately or held for an admin to follow up with. A series of packages let sponsors choose their level of participation, and some javascript hides or reveals form fields, making certain the form is only as long as it needs to be.

The Kuzina Cup

One of the key features of the site is the online golf registration system built for the annual Kuzina Cup. We built a streamlined form that allows golfers to register individually, as a gorup of four, or just sign up for the tournament dinner.

The goal was to make the form clear, easy, and accessible, letting golfers fill in their informartion and pay online through Paypal. And knowing the golf tournament would be held every year, we ensured the form could be reset and repurposed for the next round.

Ask Away

The advantage of building based on our clients needs rather than skinning something out of the box is that it provides us with the opportunity to make even the well-know FAQ page something fun to use. The layout has the questions in large friendly type with each of the answers revealed in a roll-open animation. By giving the page an exploratory aspect, it encourgaes visitors to find out more about the tournament and about registrations.

Little Something On The Side

The site is laid out with a sidebar that is populated with images, links, and their enews signup form. We developed a tool that gives site adminstrators the ability to quickly manage all the elements in that sidebar, on a single page, within a specific section, or across the entire site. They can link those elements to any interior page or exterior site, and they can set a date range for each piece to appear and be disappear from the rotation.
